IT, HR, Operations, Data: We Are All Family – A Reflection on the TAO Cybersecurity Event

On October 11, I attended the TAO Technology Cybersecurity event at PCC. Initially, I was hesitant to join, unsure if the content would align with my interests. However, from the very first presentation, it became clear that the themes discussed resonated deeply with my past work experience in HR, IT, and data.

One of the standout aspects of the event was the case study storytelling, where students played various roles to illustrate real-world troubleshooting scenarios. This creative approach made complex problems easier to understand. Watching the students engage with such enthusiasm reminded me of the importance of listening to younger generations—they are our future innovators.

In my past work in Human Capital Management (HCM), I leveraged systems like PeopleSoft and Workday to analyze data and inform decision-making. As the event progressed where discussions around AI and machine learning resonated with my experience. The presenters explained how AI predictions rely on large datasets, echoing my use of prompts in PeopleSoft and Workday to query and analyze data. Today, AI's ability to predict trends and behaviors based on data is increasingly critical for HCM departments. Whether for workforce planning, hiring, or employee retention, AI-driven insights are empowering HCM teams to make informed decisions

I also particularly enjoyed the breakout sessions, where I had the chance to engage with different topics and groups. The remote work session stood out to me as it wasn’t just a discussion, but also a look into the future. The session highlighted the intersection between AI and HR in remote work, predicting potential challenges in managing distributed teams and workforce strategies. The evolving dynamics between AI-driven decision-making and human leadership in this new era were a central theme.

What impressed me most was the collaborative partnerships present throughout the event. From the sponsors and volunteers to the TAO employees, there was a shared commitment to the event's success and the quality of the content delivered. Every aspect, from the arrangement to the execution, reflected strong collaboration and shared goals.

Connecting AI in HR to the Future of Work

As I reflect on the themes of AI, data, and collaboration discussed at the TAO event, I can’t help but draw parallels to the work I’ve been doing in HR tech. AI’s role in predicting trends, improving workforce decisions, and automating key processes is transforming the HR landscape, much like it’s influencing cybersecurity and IT.

In my upcoming AI in HR Tech Terminology Talk, I’ll be diving deeper into how AI is reshaping HR processes. One of the topics I’ll explore is how AI-driven use cases—like predicting employee engagement or automating recruitment—are becoming crucial for HR teams.

Whether it’s through AI-powered workforce planning or leadership strategies, the future of HR lies in data-driven decision-making. I invite you to join me in this upcoming series to explore these technologies in more detail and learn how they can enhance your HR and leadership strategies.

Check out the AI use case in the single talk video below—the new 20-series talks will explain the content in a different approach to make it easier to learn. Stay tuned for more insights on how AI is shaping smarter workforce strategies in HR!
